Tesla has indicated interest in battery components from China's Sunrise New Energy, according to a company statement. If the product and process characteristics satisfy Tesla, it may use the components for its lithium-ion batteries.

Sunrise New Energy said Wednesday it had received interest from Tesla. The Chinese company, through its joint venture, is engaged in the production and sale of graphite anode materials. It is used in lithium-ion batteries. Tesla uses lithium-ion batteries to power its electric vehicles. A possible collaboration could expand the capabilities of both companies.

Sunrise New Energy said it was approached by Tesla's battery raw materials team. It requested detailed process information, production plans, and information on available production capacity for its products. This indicates serious interest and possible weighing of several options for cooperation. Since Tesla's production capacity is constantly increasing, the company needs more batteries for them. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles, finding good and reliable suppliers is becoming an increasingly difficult task.

Sunrise filed for two patents in September. Both are associated with solid carbon composite materials. At the moment, the company has already received 25 patents, which indicates its active work and desire for innovation.

Meanwhile, Tesla is also actively working to secure battery components. In addition, the company is expanding its ability to access raw materials for battery production. Batteries are the most important components of electric vehicles.
