Tesla Starts Recruiting Semi Service Technicians in Canada as Production Grows More Imminent

As expected, Tesla is ramping up its efforts to recruit specialists for the production of the Semi truck. While the initial positions in the US--which were only announced internally--appear to have been filled, the company has begun an open search for specialists in Canada.

Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt/Twitter, citing unnamed sources, said in mid-March that Tesla would soon announce new jobs in North America related to Semi truck. He said that Tesla's President of Heavy Trucking Jerome Guillen wanted these positions to be filled in Q2.

Sawyer said there will be four technical positions. First, the company intended to look for specialists in North America. If Tesla could not find worthy candidates in North America, then vacancies would have to be posted in other countries. Three technician jobs are reported to be in California and another one in Mississauga, Canada.

According to Tesla's website, three jobs for California never showed up, which may indicate they were successfully employed without further publicity. At the same time, two positions related to the production of Semi in Nevada appeared on the website: Production Supervisor and Process Technician. This is not a surprise as previously leaked information indicated that the body of Semi would be built in Fremont, California, while the final assembly would take place at Giga Nevada.

Another interesting observation was the emergence of a position in Mississauga, Canada. Sawyer previously reported that the position in this city was to be one of those positions that Guillen planned to fill in Q2. As of March 21, Tesmanian had not found active positions in Mississauga on the company's website related to the production of Semi. However, we managed to find at Indeed Job postings in Canada, information that Tesla is looking for a Chemical Operator there.

Now, in early April, Tesla has a new position at Mississauga related to Semi. The company is looking for a Semi Service Technician, which indicates the company's efforts to create a base of technicians who will service the company's electric trucks in Canada. The job description indicates that these specialists will be the first "technicians to provide in person service to our new customers." It seems that the employees of the company in this position will become the ones who will be involved in the maintenance of Tesla Semi.

The position is in the Service & Energy Installation job category, which may indicate that it may also be associated with the installation of a network of charging stations for Semi. This emphasis on Canada is probably due to the fact that Tesla has received large orders for the truck from local companies. Pride Group Enterprises and Walmart Canada have ordered several hundred Semis total and plan to expand their orders even further in the future.

Information about a new position associated with Semi in Canada was first discovered by Drive Tesla Canada.
