Elon Musk's lawyers have asked a judge to force Twitter to identify the employees responsible for counting bot/fake accounts. Twitter has five business days to decide what should be excluded from documents as confidential information.
Elon Musk's lawyers have accused Twitter of hiding key witnesses in a legal battle to buy out the social media platform, Bloomberg wrote, citing people familiar with the case. Musk says the company does not disclose the names of employees responsible for counting how much of Twitter's customer base consists of spam and bot accounts, in an attempt to prevent them from being accessed to obtain critical information that could determine the outcome of the case. Therefore, his lawyers asked the judge to force Twitter to identify employees.
A letter asking Delaware Chancery Court Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick was filed on Tuesday under seal. According to court rules, Twitter's lawyers have five business days to decide what should be excluded from the documents as confidential information.
So far, Twitter has only handed over names that are not really that familiar with the data needed to find out the truth. The platform continues to hide the information that caused its problems with the purchase transaction. Such actions by Twitter only emphasize that they have something to hide.
Twitter has never provided information that could support its claim to the US Securities Commission that the number of spam/bot accounts on the platform is indeed less than 5%. If it can be proven that Twitter withheld this information from its customers in order to profit from them, misleading them, it will cause very serious damage to the business, at least as long as it is run by the current executives.
