Tesla's FSD gets support in China, a Shanghai official hints. The city will further deepen its cooperation with Tesla to promote the company's business, including autonomous driving and robotics in the city, he said.

Tesla's FSD (Full Self-Driving) may be closer to being available in China. According to a local official, Shanghai will further deepen its cooperation with Tesla to promote businesses including self-driving and robotics in the city, CnEVPost reported.

Shanghai will work with Tesla to create a technology industry cluster with major technological advantages for the global market. The announcement was made Friday by Chen Kele, deputy director of the intelligent manufacturing promotion division at the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization. On Friday, Giga Shanghai opened its doors to the local press, where the official spoke.

Tesla has positively contributed to building a world-class automobile industry center in Shanghai, supporting the city's sustained industrial economic growth, Chen said at the event.

Bear in mind that Chen did not explicitly mention Tesla FSD. Nevertheless, it was the first hint of support for FSD from a Chinese official. If Tesla does indeed get support, it will have a huge market to promote its software. This would both bring the company an additional flow of money as well as greatly increase the amount of data collected while driving on FSD.

This is not the first time we have heard about the development of FSD in China. In early April, there were rumors Tesla was going to start testing FSD on a large scale in the country. Since then, there has been no other information confirming or denying this.

Currently, all Tesla cars come with free Basic Autopilot (BAP) software. In addition, Tesla also offers Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) and FSD software as options.
