Tesla invites consumers to test drive the updated Model Y in China. The SUV has received interior design updates. More fundamental updates to the Model Y are expected to be rolled out as part of Project Juniper in 2024.

Tesla has opened test drives of its new Model Y crossover in China, the company announced on its Weibo account. Now, local consumers have the opportunity to see the car up close and try it out. The first deliveries were also scheduled to start this weekend. Although Tesla did not provide additional information about the start date for Model Y deliveries in the post, data from the website suggests that they may have already begun.

Tesla released the updated Model Y in China on October 1. Prices remained unchanged, although the cars received minor feature upgrades. Three versions of Model Y are currently available: the base Model Y with rear-wheel drive, the Long Range Model Y with dual-motor all-wheel drive, and the Performance Model Y with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The base Model Y got improved range and acceleration, while the Model Y Long Range received extended range. Information about the main characteristics of the Model Y Performance remains unchanged. Updates include multi-color ambient lighting inside, new dashboard trim, and new 19-inch wheels.

Initially, the waiting time for Model Y in China remained unchanged. For the basic and the Performance versions it is 2–6 weeks, and for Model Y Long Range it is 6–8 weeks. This means that the first deliveries could have already taken place or should take place in the coming days.
