After a meeting between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the President of Brazil, it became known that the manufacturer may consider building a factory in the country. The manufacturing plant could be located in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas.

On Friday, May 20, Elon Musk met with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Communications Minister Fábio Faria. The main topics discussed were the planning of connecting rural settlements to the Starlink broadband satellite network. However, besides discussing internet connectivity in rural local schools and Amazon forest monitoring, Musk and Bolsonaro could have considered building a Tesla factory in Brazil, reports Chumbo Grosso.

The topic of Tesla building a factory in Brazil is a long-standing interest of the government. According to interlocutors from the Palacio do Planalto, this was to be the subject of a private conversation between Musk and the Brazilian delegation. Chumbo Grosso reported that Bolsonaro and senior figures in the federal government's economic sector are suggesting that a Tesla electric vehicle factory could be built in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas.

Tesla is a very attractive business for any state that seeks to develop the country's economy. The manufacturer's factories create thousands of direct jobs and tens of thousands of indirect ones. In addition, the company's activities generate significant tax revenues. The location of the factory also has a beneficial effect on the environment, as the local population usually begins to massively switch to Tesla EVs.
