SpaceX Seeks Medical Professionals ‘Who Have A Passion & Interest In Human Spaceflight’

SpaceX seeks medical professionals "who have a passion and interest in human spaceflight" to assist during operational missions. “SpaceX is currently building the world's next human spaceflight capability. We’re actively supporting a wide array of mission types - revolutionizing access to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) with cargo and crewed Dragon missions, returning humans to the Moon by developing a Human Lander System (HLS) for NASA’s Artemis program, and rapidly developing Starship, the first rocket and spacecraft designed to support crewed trips to Mars,” the company wrote in its newest job listing.

“What's more challenging that the emergency room? Maybe a spaceship! We're looking for operational nurses who want to help us achieve our goal of enabling people to live on other planets. Apply now via the following link,” a SpaceX employee announced via twitter, linked below. The hired nurses will become members of a contractor team SpaceX works with. The 'Space Operation Nurses' will participate in research for operational missions, which involves learning tasks to assist astronauts' health when they launch and return from space. “You’ll work under the supervision of SpaceX flight surgeons and assist with medical care and planning,” the company’s job application states. “Our pool of contract nurses are notified of upcoming missions and selected to support associated training and operational needs for missions each year.” The nurses may also be tasked with clinical/occupational care of SpaceX employees.

The company is also looking forward to hire a ‘Medical Associate’ that can monitor the company’s “COVID-19 response to keep employees and crewmembers safe while keeping operations running,” a separate job application states.

A couple of months ago, SpaceX added a job listing seeking to hire a ‘Medical Engineer’ to develop a medical system for the Starship spacecraft. Specifically, the company searched for a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with a Masters of Science in Engineering. “As a Starship medical engineer, you will be responsible for developing the medical system for Starship. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, specialists, and directly with customers to develop medical capabilities and execute missions.” Find more SpaceX job applications at the official website: SpaceX.com/Careers
