Tesla's Giga Shanghai continues to operate during China's National Day holiday, allowing its employees to earn triple their pay. The current production situation at the factory is excellent, and recent typhoons and holidays have little impact on its performance, said general secretary of CPCA.
The Tesla factory in China is a huge manufacturing machine that is currently responsible for delivering hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles to the roads in order to reduce the harmful effects of exhaust gases from internal combustion engines on the environment as quickly as possible. That is why the continuous operation of Giga Shanghai is so important and the manufacturer does everything possible for this.
Chinese media (via CnEVPost), citing two factory workers, reported that Giga Shanghai continues to operate during China's National Day holiday, which runs from October 1 to 7—a typical practice for manufacturing enterprises in the country. These days, employees who work have the opportunity to receive generous rewards. Those who work from October 1 to 3 will receive triple their daily wages. This opportunity only comes a few times a year. From October 4 to 7, employees receive double pay.
According to Chinese labor law, only employees working on public holidays can earn three times their daily wages, and the rest of the holidays are two times their usual pay. There are currently only 11 holiday days in China during which workers are eligible for triple pay.
The current production situation at Tesla's Shanghai plant is excellent, and recent typhoons and holidays have little impact on performance, said Cui Dongshu, general secretary of the China Passenger Car Association. He added that the most important thing for the factory now is to maintain a stable supply chain and stable production.
