The Tesla factory near Austin, Texas is something absolutely unique, even for Tesla. Built with the knowledge gained and the latest technology, it has become the most advanced factory in the world. All production shops are located under one roof, which increases the assembly lines' productivity and makes operations more ecologically friendly. Giga Texas is the size of three Pentagons and can accommodate 194 billion hamsters. And if you place the building vertically, then it will be higher than the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa, which is 829 meters.
However, the uniqueness of Giga Texas does not stop here. According to the idea, an ecological paradise should be located on the territory of the factory. “It’s right on the Colorado River, so there’s actually going to be a boardwalk where there’ll be a hiking and biking trail. It’s going to basically be an ecological paradise, birds in the trees, butterfly, fish in the stream, and they will be open to the public as well. So, not closed and only for Tesla,” said Elon Musk during the Q2 2020 Earnings Call.
Since then, he has confirmed the plan a couple of times, but now the situation has become more concrete. Teslarati reported that Tesla has revised its application for Giga Texas and added 12 acres to the site boundaries. So the manufacturer added 522,720 feet of space to the south of the factory, near the Colorado River. Musk confirmed that the expansion will be used for gentrification to accommodate hiking and biking areas. According to the plan, there will be a landscaped boardwalk that will connect Giga Texas and downtown Austin. The zone will be open to the public, which means that citizens will be able to walk, ride bicycles and even kayaks there, obviously along the river, next to the boardwalk.
Long-term goal is a boardwalk with amenities that goes all the way to downtown Austin, so you can walk, bike or kayak— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 21, 2022
Such construction of the factory takes such projects to a whole new level. The essence of Tesla's work is to improve people's lives. This applies not only to the products manufactured by the company, but also to its factories. Since Giga Texas is so close to Austin and has amazing natural surroundings, Tesla is keen to share this with everyone.
