Tesla is ready to officially begin construction on Giga Mexico, according to a report. The company will reportedly deliver a letter on Friday to formalize Tesla's launch in the country.

Tesla presented a letter of intent to the state government today to formalize the construction and launch of the Gigafactory in Nuevo León, MILENIO-Multimedios reported. State Governor Samuel Garcia will receive written confirmation from the directors and executives of the American company that construction has begun.

“On Friday (today) they gave us a letter, they said that nothing can be said until they receive the letter that makes the official completion (the launch of the Gigafactory),” the source of the information confirmed to the MILENIO-Multimedios platform.

It is reported that, in fact, Garcia had already announced they were going to receive a letter to start the construction of the factory, but did not mention the contents of the letter. On his personal Instagram account, he posted:
“My friends and colleagues at Tesla are very happy because they have their Gigafactories [around the world]... I am also going to get Tesla to launch a Gigafactory [in Mexico].”

Last Monday, Garcia said he hosted Tesla executives at his home to negotiate the launch of Giga Mexico, without elaborating. According to him, the meeting was attended by Eugenio Grandio de la Torre, director of the Mexico market; Rohan Patel, Tesla's director of business development, and Daniel Calvo, Tesla's logistics manager, as well as Iván Rivas, minister of economy, and Emmanuel Loo, deputy minister of investment, from the same agency.

Garcia previously announced on his social networks new routes and direct flights from various US cities to Monterrey. This was done in order to prepare for Tesla's arrival to the state, according to him.
