On Monday, Australian solar and battery developer Edify Energy said it would deploy Tesla Megapack technology for a 150MW/300MWh energy storage project in New South Wales, Australia. The Riverina and Darlington Point energy storage facilities will be installed under an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) with Tesla Motors Australia, an Australian subsidiary of Tesla Inc., reported Renewables Now.
The lithium-ion battery systems will be located in Murrumbidgee County in New South Wales. It will be three independent systems located in one place of the project. They will supply power to the Transgrid substation at Darlington Point. The project consists of the 60MW/120MWh Riverina Energy Storage System 1, the 65MW/130MW Riverina Energy Storage System 2, and the 25MW/50MWh Darlington Point Energy Storage System. The three projects will be equipped with “advanced inverter technology,” Edify Energy said.
Edify has in place a long-term service agreement for the offtake of the project's first portion with Shell Energy, which was key for the latter in securing a long-term retail contract with the state government. The battery will supply dispatchable power to schools, hospitals, and government buildings across New South Wales.
