Tesla TSLA Delivers 405K+ Vehicles in Q4 & 1.31M+ in 2022

Tesla Inc. reported record quarterly deliveries of 405,278 vehicles in Q4, up 31% year-over-year. In all of 2022, the company delivered more than 1.31 million electric vehicles, making a huge contribution to the fight against global climate change. 34,423 cars are still on the way and will be delivered to customers soon.

Tesla today released production and delivery data for the fourth quarter. According to the announcement, the manufacturer delivered a record 405,278 vehicles, reflecting an increase of 31% over the same period last year. Tesla delivered 388,131 Model 3/Y and 17,147 Model S/X. So, for the four quarters of 2022, Tesla delivered an impressive 1,313,851, up 40% from a year earlier.

Tesla produced a record 439,701 vehicles in Q4, up 44% from the same period last year. 419,088 Model 3/Y and 20,613 Model S/X were produced. Thus, 1,369,611 cars were produced in 2022, which reflects a 47% increase compared to 2021.

The data show that in Q4 the gap between production and supply numbers was 34,423 units. These are cars that are on the way and have not yet been delivered to customers. This gap should not scare or alert investors. Elon Musk has previously explained that Tesla is looking to make deliveries more even throughout the year to avoid superload at the end of each quarter. Previously, this was typical for the company, since it was young and its production facilities did not allow for even distribution of deliveries. Now that Tesla has ramped up production capacity enough, the company can afford to make deliveries more even, highlighting the manufacturer's transition into a mature phase of development.
