Tesla Is Starting To Deliver Ventilators to New York Hospitals Tonight

In connection with the emergency in New York, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the ventilators will be delivered to New York hospitals today.

New York is the most affected coronovirus state in the country, with over 30,000 cases. The number of new cases of coronavirus infection doubles every three days, despite all the steps taken by the state to slow the spread. According to the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the state has purchased 7,000 ventilators and needs another 30,000.

In connection with this critical situation for New York, Musk said that Resmed, Philips, and Medtronic ventilators will be delivered to NY hospitals starting tonight.

Tesla/SpaceX, led by Musk, are some of the most active companies seeking to help the US cope with the pandemic. In addition to donating protective equipment for medical personnel, they are the most active companies working towards the creation of ventilators. 

The decision to deliver ventilators to New York hospitals is an emergency measure, and in the near future Tesla will begin their production at its factory in Buffalo. Two days ago, New York Assemblyman Sean Ryan has asked Musk to do this. Tesla CEO pledged that Giga New York would reopen to produce ventilators for the state.

All automakers who have expressed a desire to manufacture ventilators will need to reorient their plants in New York before starting production. But only Tesla can best make this possible in time. The California automaker has extensive working experience with innovative ideas.

On March 18, Musk announced his intention to start manufacturing ventilators. On March 21, he held a lengthy engineering discussion with Medtronic, apparently trying to figure out their manufacturing process.

The partnership between Medtronic and Tesla should be a lifeline in these difficult times for the US. Both companies are starting a fruitful collaboration that will save lives.
