Twitter Could Move Part of its Operations to Texas

Twitter may move part of its operations to Texas, according to Elon Musk during a meeting with the company's employees. The state governor also invited Twitter to the state, where Tesla, SpaceX, Boring Co., and Neuralink are already located.

Austin has been the center of operations for Elon Musk’s companies for some time now. Tesla's headquarters and car manufacturing factory are located there; in addition, the company will build a lithium refinery plant in the state. SpaceX, with its office and launch pad, has also long been based in Texas, with Boring Co. and Neuralink having offices here. That is why it seems obvious that the issue of transferring Twitter's operations, at least some of them, to Texas remains only a matter of time. While Musk has never publicly mentioned it, he does not seem to rule out this possibility.

During a recent meeting with Twitter employees—the details of which were leaked to The Verge—when one of the employees asked him if he was going to move the company's headquarters to Texas, Musk gave some information. The new owner said he has no intention of moving Twitter's headquarters to Texas at this time. However, he left open the possibility that some of Twitter's operations could be moved to the state where all of his companies have a presence. During the meeting, Musk reportedly said he did not rule out opening a second headquarters in Texas and that having a dual headquarters might make sense. It should be kept in mind that any information may turn out to be inaccurate or false, as has repeatedly happened when publishing articles about Musk and his companies.

In late April, after Musk announced a plan to buy Twitter, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott suggested that he locate the social network's headquarters in his state.

To reinforce Abbott's hospitality, a local rancher also welcomes Musk. Jim Schwertner is offering 100 acres of land just 38 miles North of Austin. He stressed that these lands will be given away free of charge. Schwertner said he thinks Musk is the best thing that has ever happened to Texas. He added that a business like Twitter would add many jobs and boost the state economy, so giving the land—which is about 75 football fields—to Musk would be a win-win for everyone.
