SpaceX is offering two months of free Starlink Internet with hardware purchase in Canada

SpaceX is offering two months of free Starlink internet when Canada customers purchase hardware, according to a new Facebook advertisement. “Canadians, order via the link below to receive 2 free months of service! Applies to both RV + residential service in select cities,” the company wrote in the advertisement post, “High-speed satellite internet, available almost anywhere in Canada.”

To receive the two month free internet, the customers must purchase the Starlink kit for $759 CAD (Canadian Dollars). The kit includes the phased array Starlink antenna and a Wi-Fi router to wirelessly access the satellite internet network. After the two months, customers would pay $140 CAD per month for the internet service. The offer is only available to Facebook users who click the link on the advertisement, it is unknown whether SpaceX is extending the promotion to all Canadians who are interested and sign-up via Starlink.com. As of today, SpaceX operates around 3,425 internet-beaming Starlink satellites in Low Earth Orbit that provide internet to over one million subscribers globally. The company has permission to launch 7,500 more Starlink satellites that will expand service coverage and build a robust internet network. Starlink is already active in some of Canada’s most remote places, including the Pikangikum First Nation rural communities located in the Sioux Lookout District of northwestern Ontario. The indigenous community of approximately 2,000 people was one of the first to be connected to Starlink in December 2020. The community was helped by FSET Information Technology, a Canadian company that provides a wide range of tech-related services in Kenora, Ontario. FSET reached out to SpaceX to purchase the Starlink kits and also hands-on installed the hardware at the indigenous communities.
