Elon Musk has announced that he will unveil Tesla's Master Plan 3 during Investor Day in March. The main topic of the long-awaited plan will be “scaling to extreme size,” though other details have yet to be revealed.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has completed his Master Plan 3 and is ready to unveil it on March 1, during Investor Day. Musk's master plans are the company's roadmaps that outline global goals and ways to achieve them in line with the company's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. To date, he has already published two Master Plans and has achieved most of the goals set in them, which means it is time to expand the manufacturer's aspirations.

“Master Plan 3, the path to a fully sustainable energy future for Earth will be presented on March 1.

The future is bright!”

What has always distinguished the head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, from others is his desire to create, which has only intensified over the years. While the rich and powerful are vying for spheres of influence and trying to make as much money as possible, Musk is focused on a single goal—to improve the lives of mankind. That is why he works in several directions at once, trying to change critical areas.

One of Musk's most important goals is to make humanity a multi-planetary species, which he is trying to achieve through the developments of SpaceX. In parallel with solving the problems of humanity on such a global scale, Musk works daily on other projects that seek to help people. His Boring Company is trying to solve the problem of traffic by unloading the roads of large cities with the help of underground multi-level tunnel systems. Neuralink is working on a brain chip that will open up many possibilities, especially for sick people who suffer from physical and/or psychological pain on a daily basis. Tesla is focused on stopping climate change by accelerating the world's transition from a mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy towards a solar electric one.

Up to this point, Musk had published two Master Plans that charted the company's path forward. In August 2006, he published The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me). The plan consisted of several steps:
  • Build sports car
  • Use that money to build an affordable car
  • Use that money to build an even more affordable car
  • While doing above, also provide zero emission electric power generation options

In July 2016, 10 years after the release of the plan and after all the points had been met, Musk published Master Plan, Part Deux. Briefly, it consisted of the following:

  • Create stunning solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage
  • Expand the electric vehicle product line to address all major segments
  • Develop a self-driving capability that is 10X safer than manual via massive fleet learning
  • Enable your car to make money for you when you aren't using it

Most of the points of this plan have already been completed, except for the last one. Nevertheless, Tesla is already close to full implementation. In March 2022, Musk gave some hints about Master Plan 3. He wrote that scalability and artificial intelligence (AI) will dominate in his new plan. Musk explained that this is exactly what is needed in order to shift humanity away from fossil fuels. “Main Tesla subjects will be scaling to extreme size, which is needed to shift humanity away from fossil fuels, and AI,” he wrote.

Musk also said that in addition to the section directly about Tesla, the plan will include sections about SpaceX and The Boring Company. The work of all these companies is constantly closely intertwined, so it is absolutely natural that in the achievement of the extreme size of Tesla, they will play an important role. The Tesla and SpaceX teams are constantly collaborating in various fields, for example in the creation of alloys. Tesla cars are also vehicles that carry passengers in The Boring Company's tunnels, and in the future, the car company will probably develop a special 12-seater for this task.
