With just two models for sale in the country, Tesla delivered 77,613 vehicles to China in September, the second highest ever. This result was achieved only with the production from Tesla's one factory, which emphasizes its superiority over other manufacturers.

On October 10, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reported that Tesla Giga Shanghai had delivered 83,135 vehicles. This became a new record for the manufacturer and for the entire industry as a whole. Today, no car factory in the world is capable of producing such a large number of vehicles per month. The number of deliveries in September surpassed the previous record of 78,906 units in June. Compared to the same period last year, Giga Shanghai increased the number of deliveries by 48.44% and was up 8.02% from August, when 76,965 vehicles were delivered.

Most of these vehicles were delivered domestically to meet local consumer demand. Of the 83,135 vehicles, 5,522 units were exported and the remaining 77,613 vehicles were delivered to local consumers, the second-highest number after June's 77,938 deliveries.

As of now, Giga Shanghai produces only two models. Current CPCA data do not show a breakdown by models sold domestically. However, out of 83,135 vehicles delivered in September, the data show that Model Y sales were 51,802 units and Model 3 sales were 31,333 units. More detailed domestic sales data will be available in the next report, which will show each model's position in China's overall auto market.

Retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) in China were 611,000 units in September. Tesla's share was 12.7%.
