Tesla Giga Berlin has been nominated as the innovation location of the year by Die Deutsche Wirtschaft. The factory is the largest industrial settlement in East Germany, built since 1989, and now making Brandenburg one of the most important automotive centers in Germany.

With its innovation nomination, Die Deutsche Wirtschaft (DDW) recognizes exemplary cases of new thinking in various fields and throughout the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), as its economy can only remain competitive through innovation. DDW has nominated Tesla Giga Berlin, located in Brandenburg, as the innovative location of the year.

The Tesla factory is the largest industrial settlement in East Germany, built since 1989. The automaker is committed to further shaping and continuously expanding the future of sustainable mobility. The success of Giga Berlin and the company itself is based on a consistent refusal to do things the way others did. This approach requires constant adjustment of the production of products—from the idea to mass production. Tesla has set high production goals for itself and spares no extraordinary effort to achieve them, emphasized DDW.

Giga Berlin also boosts Brandenburg's self-confidence as an automotive region and its attractiveness for further location of companies and manufacturing. “This makes Brandenburg one of the most important automotive locations in Germany all at once”, says Steffen Kammradt, Managing Director of the Brandenburg Economic Development Agency. This has triggered a surge in investment requests since Tesla CEO Elon Musk chose Brandenburg.

The Prognos Institute, evaluating Giga Berlin, says that the automotive industry is being reinvented in Brandenburg by the Tesla factory. Kammradt points out that the region was marked on the map thanks to “Tesla magic.” The manufacturer is already attracting many small, innovative suppliers to Brandenburg.
