Tesla Model X proved its 5-star safety rating by protecting a family of four in a car accident. All family members received only minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

On October 2, at 10:45 am ET, near Möhlin, Switzerland, on the A3 highway, a Tesla Model X was involved in an accident. The vehicle veered off the road, rammed through a mesh fence, drove off an embankment at high speed and rolled over several times before coming to a stop on its side, according to police via 20 minuten. It is reported that there were four people in the car.

Arriving at the scene, the police and rescuers found the 47-year-old driver, his 39-year-old wife and their two children, aged six and nine, in the car. The woman and children were taken by rescue helicopter to Basel University Hospital. The man was taken to a hospital in Liestal. According to preliminary data from doctors, all four received only minor injuries that do not threaten their lives. The circumstances of the accident have not yet been clarified, the investigation is ongoing.

Tesla's Model X was the first SUV to receive a perfect crash-test rating. The NHTSA has awarded Model X a 5-star safety rating in each category and subcategory. It outperforms gas-powered SUVs in accident safety because of its architecture and powertrain design. Despite the fact that the car rolled over due to a combination of circumstances in this accident, all passengers were well-protected by the solid structure of the car, seats, airbags and seat belts. Judging by the photo, the car hit the roof and only thanks to its strong frame, the upper part of the car did not flatten. If the roof flattened from hitting the ground, it could have killed or seriously injured its occupants.
