Tesla Model Y became the best-selling car in Norway in February 2023. The compact SUV from the Texas-based manufacturer has long been the favorite choice of Norwegians and was the country's best-selling vehicle in 2022.

Tesla Model Y continues to dominate Norway, firmly holding its position as the best-selling car. After a weak January, when the car was not delivered to the country and could not be handed over to customers awaiting delivery, the situation changed in February. Tesla sold 1,269 Model Ys and ranked first on the list of best-selling cars in Norway, according to EU-Evs' data.

The compact SUV from the Texas-based manufacturer is the most loved car in Norway, as evidenced by sales data. In 2022, Model Y was the nation's best-selling car. For 12 months of the year, 17,342 cars were registered, which was a new record for the number of registered cars of one model in one year. The record was previously held by Volkswagen Beetle, registering 16,699 units in 1969.

In second place is Toyota BZ4X with 543 cars sold. In third place is Volkswagen ID.3 with 530 registered sales. Fourth place was taken by Volkswagen ID.4 with 478 units. Closing out the top 5 is Volvo XC40 with 383 sales.

In two months of this year, 9,299 new passenger cars were registered, of which 7,420 were electric vehicles. This corresponds to a share of 80%. However, Road Traffic Information Council director Øyvind Solberg Thorsen said they expect the share of electric vehicles to increase and approach 90% by the end of 2023.
