Tesla Model Y is the best-selling EV in Germany through the first four months of 2023, far surpassing its competitors. Model 3 finished in fifth place, reinforcing the brand's success.

Vehicle sales in Germany continue to rise, compared to last year. While some cars are strengthening their presence, others continue to lose consumer interest. Interest in electric vehicles also continues to grow and sales are breaking records.

Germany is the heart of Europe's auto industry. For decades, German brands have enjoyed tremendous popularity. However, Tesla appeared about 20 years ago and has managed to earn the love of consumers around the world, including Germany. The company has built a factory in the country, and is effectively ramping up production of the German-made Model Y. So far, Giga Berlin has exceeded production of 5,000 cars per week. This means that more than 20,000 cars a month are sold throughout Europe, with some of them settling in Germany.

Tesla sales in Germany were strong in 2023, thanks to Giga Berlin. This allowed the manufacturer to sell 17,487 Model Ys in the first four months of the year. Strong sales made the car untouchable by competitors and Model Y became the best-selling electric car in the country. In second place, significantly behind, is Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 with combined sales of 9,505. Volkswagen ID.3 is in third place with 7,335 units sold. In fourth place is Audi Q4 E-Tron with 4,972 sales. Tesla Model 3 closes out the top 5 with 4,776 units sold.
