Tesla is once again experiencing skyrocketing demand for its vehicles in China. A local news agency reported that on the first day of the cars price cut, the company received more than 10,000 orders.

Tesla is experiencing a huge wave of demand, which appeared after January 6, when the prices on Giga Shanghai-made Model 3 and Model Y were reduced for Chinese customers. The company received more than 10,000 orders across the country on the first day of the price cut, according to ifeng.com, which cites information from a manufacturer's mid-level executive. Since customers do not know when Tesla will raise the prices of its cars again, many of them could rush to place an order as soon as possible.

It should be noted that after the price reduction, the cost of Tesla cars in China has become extremely attractive. The new starting price for the base rear-wheel-drive Model 3 is RMB 229,900 (around $33,895), down RMB 36,000 from the previous RMB 265,900. This is the lowest starting price for Model 3 in China. The base rear-wheel-drive Model Y now has an updated starting price of RMB 259,900 (around $38,375), down RMB 29,000 from the previous price of RMB 288,900.

The latest known expected delivery times for both the base Model Y and Long Range Model Y are now 2-5 weeks, up from 1-4 weeks previously. Obviously, the waiting time has been extended due to growing demand, and if the number of orders continues to rise, delivery times are expected to further increase.
