I was skeptical due to limited reviews and videos on YouTube. So glad I went ahead with the tables. I put 2 in my 2021 model y (refresh).
Daughter loves them! They are sturdy and I knocked out this install for both in under 2 hours. I even dinked around while doing the install. The trickiest part is the mounting plate but just a little patience and creativity solved the problem.
I would strongly recommend these for anyone looking to add convenience and a splash of luxury for the backseat guests or kiddos.
The seat backs are great. They add functionality with an OEM look, no weird trays or hanging systems. The install went pretty quick. We just did a long road trip with them. The amount of gear we brought meant the back seat had to be partially folded. With these seat backs and folding tables, my passengers and I still had somewhere to place thier drinks, food and books.
Installation is a bit tricky, the mounting plate has razor sharp edges-good idea to file or Dremel. After engaging the unit at the bottom be sure lower sides go outboard the metal tangs that are at the seat hinges. The major flaw is that the table ends up, 31” to 28” above the floor, depending on front seat height. At the lowest seat setting this placed the table 3” under my chin, I was in this position when I was about five years old. With Covid, we do not do restaurants, this is our table when out and about. Solution is bolster seats. Good news is the packing materiel in the shipping box is perfect for the solid base of the bolsters, 4” in our case with 3” foam padding above. 3M Headliner Adhesive works well to bond the layers together quickly, and to attach the Dacron batting to the outside. I chose matte black vinyl to upholster the job. You of course will have to play with the dimensions to serve your needs-if you want to go through all this. The answer of course is to have the table vertically adjustable. At the very least If the table were 6”- 8” lower it would make this accessory practical and would eliminate the useless storage compartment below. This item is well made, fits perfectly
and looks terrific. This can be made better, after all the airlines do it why can't it be done for our Teslas.
