Elon Musk donated about $5.74 billion in Tesla stock in November, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The proceeds went to charity, making it one of the largest charitable donations in history.
When you open the lists of the most generous rich people who donate money to charity, you will not find Elon Musk's name or the name of his foundation, The Musk Foundation. This once again highlights how unfair the media is to the head of the most disruptive companies of our time. While almost every one of them regularly publishes any negative news related to the name of Musk or his companies, members of the press do not spend much time covering him objectively. The head of Tesla and SpaceX does not advertise or "order" articles in eminent publications that would praise his donations to charity; instead, he quietly donates through his Musk Foundation or directly himself to those organizations that, in his opinion, need it most.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), between November 19 and 29, the head of Tesla and SpaceX donated about $5.74 billion in TSLA stock to charity. Their value is calculated based on the average price of the manufacturer's shares on the indicated days. An unnamed trust was involved in the deal, and the name of the charitable organization was also not mentioned in the filing.
The donation was made just weeks before Senator Elizabeth Warren, whose taxes and salary are covered by taxpayer money, organized a Facebook ad campaign to collect $10 per person for her own purposes, calling to speak out against Musk. It was also weeks before Warren started attacking him on Twitter, calling Musk a "freeloader." You can see how the relationship between the media and individual politicians is intertwined, creating a powerful backbone for inflaming hostility, and sometimes even hatred, towards a person who literally helps the US to prosper, improve the quality of life of mankind, and tries to ensure the survival of humanity as a species by turning it into a multi-planetary one.
