This week, Starlink customers shared on social media that SpaceX sent an email with a limited-time offer. “Customers who upgrade to a Mobile Priority Service Plan will be eligible for a $600 discount off of the regular $2,500 price for the Flat High Performance Starlink, or a total of $1,900. This offer is only available through May 31st, 2023. You can upgrade your service plan on your account online [...],” the email states.
The Flat High Performance Antenna is compatible with SpaceX’s Starlink Mobility, Maritime, and Business services. The ‘Mobility’ service enables the user to install the antenna atop a truck or car to access the internet in-motion with download speeds of up to 220 Mbps (Megabits per second) for $250 USD per month. Mobility service is useful for people who travel often to remote regions for connectivity on-the-go. “Ideal for mobile businesses and public sector use cases, including trucking, buses, shuttles, and emergency response,” says the company. “Starlink Mobility plans have the highest priority in the network, meaning your connectivity is prioritized even in times of network congestion.” The Mobility service also gives customers the ability to “pause and un-pause service at any time and is billed in one-month increments, allowing users to customize their service to their individual needs,” says the Starlink.com website.
The Starlink ‘Maritime’ service is designed for boats of all sizes with the same internet speeds and cost, mentioned above. “Starlink service is now global, providing connectivity to the vast majority of the Earth’s oceans and seas. Deliveries are available in most countries where Starlink provides service,” says SpaceX. The Flat High Performance antenna is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, like heat, cold, hail, sleet, high winds, and heavy thunderstorms.
The Business service is designed for high-demand users at the same cost. The company also has three tier Starlink data plans to choose from: 50GB (gigabytes) for $250 per month, 1TB (terabyte) for $1,000 per month, and 5TB (terabytes) costs $5,000 per month for “Priority Data” high-speed maritime internet service. As of today, SpaceX operates a constellation of 4, 073 Starlink satellites in Low Earth Orbit out of 12,000 that will complete the broadband network. The company is currently providing service to over 1.5 million subscribers globally.
