Deliveries of the refreshed Tesla Model S in Indiana could begin in as little as three weeks. A Tesla employee notified a client that the first VINs in Indianapolis were assigned.
User Reddit RollSomeCoal, who ordered the Model S Long Range, reported new details regarding the start of deliveries of the highly anticipated car to customers. Eagerly awaiting delivery, RollSomeCoal would call his sales representative once a week, asking him to call back if there were any updates about the Model S. On April 6, a Tesla employee contacted him with an update on Model S deliveries.
According to the information received, some Model S order holders in their Indianapolis office received a VIN assignment on April 6. The expected delivery timeframe of orders with a new VIN is three weeks.
"I just got a call from Tesla Indianapolis sales rep informing me that will my order doesn't have a VIN assigned yet, but their other customers at the Indianapolis location had VIN assigned today. This is the first I've heard or seen VIN assignment of the new Model S.
The expected delivery on the new VIN orders is 3 weeks. I am eagerly awaiting my updated VIN thought I'd share some joy and cheer with you all. "
In its press release for Q1 2021 deliveries, Tesla revealed that production equipment for the new Model S and Model X has been installed and tested, and the company is now in the early stages of ramping up production. Of course, we should not expect that Tesla will be able to instantly start production on a large scale, however we can confidently say that it will be increased gradually. The information that in three weeks some customers will be able to receive their orders is encouraging.
