Tesla has begun rolling out software update 2020.40.7. According to reports, the new update increases its Model Y range.

The release notes indicate that the increase in vehicle range is made possible by new software that improves the efficiency of motors and the climate control systems. In addition, Model Y received a number of important changes, such as Speed Assist Improvements, Priority Bluetooth Device, Glovebox PIN, and the much needed Charge Port Inlet Heater.

These changes do not impact acceleration or overall climate control performance.
Speed Assist Improvements
Speed Assist now leverages your car's cameras to detect speed limit signs to improve the accuracy of speed limit data on local roads. Detected speed limit signs will be displayed in the driving visualization and used to set the associated Speed Limit Warning. As usual, to adjust Speed Assist settings, tap Controls> Autopilot> Speed Limit.
Priority Bluetooth Device
To avoid connecting to the wrong nearby phone, you can now set your priority Bluetooth device. Your car will attempt to connect to the priority devies associated with the profile selected before it attempts to connect to other paired phones. To set your priority device, tap the Bluetooth icon on the top of your touchscreen, select your preferred phone and tap Priority Device.

Charge Port Inlet Heater
Your car now uses the charge port inlet heater to help defrost the inside of the charge port. The charge port inlet heater can be activated in cold ambient temperatures by enabling precondition using the mobile app, activating the rear defrost button on the vehicle's touch screen, or preconditioning the vehicle using scheduled departure.
Tesla continues to please its customers with notable changes that greatly enhance the experience of owning its cars. This is a unique feature that only Tesla offers and no other automaker even has come close to pulling off. Tesla clearly espouses a customer-centric philosophy, not a company-centric one. These recent changes are a case in point.
