Tesla celebrates the unveiling of its 100th Supercharger station in Beijing. China capital's charging network now offers 890 stalls.

On August 29, Tesla China invited consumers to the opening ceremony of the 100th Supercharger in Beijing, which took place on August 30. With the official opening of the new location, Tesla now offers 890 charging stalls in the Chinese capital. Thus, Tesla car owners in Beijing can find a charging station to charge their cars in an average of 15 minutes.

Tesla built its first Supercharger in Beijing in June 2016 and until December 2017 only had 10. Since then, the rate of deployment of charging stations in Beijing and throughout China has accelerated significantly, especially after Giga Shanghai began production at the end of 2019.

The first Supercharger in China was installed in 2014 and in eight years, its number has increased to over 1,200. They all offer around 9,000 stalls for a high level of customer satisfaction. About 60% of the charging stalls are V3 and have a maximum charging power of 250 kW, while the rest are V2 charging stalls with a maximum charging power of 120 kW. In the first half of this year, Chinese Tesla owners who used the firm's charging network drove more than 2.8 billion km (1.74 billion miles), up 61% from last year.

Zhang Lina, head of development and operation of the Supercharger network in China, said that the achievements of the past eight years are mainly to complete the construction of the basis of the charging network. Starting this year, the development planning of its charging network will focus on optimizing the layout. This means that station density will be optimized within the existing structure, and stalls at some specific stations will be upgraded to improve their charging efficiency.
