Elon Musk and the Tesla Cybertruck's appearance on Jay Leno's Garage is nearing and a few teaser videos have dropped. In the latest teaser video from CNBC Elon Musk revealed some changes the Tesla team might introduce to the Cybertruck before it is mass-produced.
In a three-minute snippet of the upcoming episode of Jay Leno's Garage, featuring the Cybertruck, Elon Musk discussed some of the changes Tesla could introduce to its all-electric pickup. "At Tesla, we always want to have the production car be better than the show car," Musk said to Leno.
"It always drove me crazy when manufacturers would come out with this cool-looking show car and the actual production care would be way worse. And your like 'Man, you got us all excited about this sweet-looking car and then the production was terrible," he said, depicting what most people experience when comparing a show car and production car. Usually, show cars have daring designs with features that have never-been or rarely tried before. Unfortunately, it is extremely rare for show car features to actually make it to production.
Based on Elon Musk's words to the veteran talk show host, the Cybertruck's changes will probably not take away from its unique and daring design. "We [Tesla] won't do show cars that aren't real. So, I think we got the proportions here pretty close," Musk said.
Musk mulled over plans of downsizing the Cybertruck by 5%, so owners can fit their Tesla EV pickup in their garages. He has mentioned making a smaller, more compact CYBRTRK in the past, but that may still be a different iteration from the one that will be released in 2021. He also talked about improving visibility inside and mentioned the Cybertruck's sloped windshield.
Musk shared a couple of design improvements Tesla made in the Cybertruck since its November unveiling via Twitter in April. He said that the Cybertruck was reduced in size by ~3%, its' centerline was more level, and that the height of its window sill was lowered. It's unclear whether or not the Cybertruck featured in Jay Leno's Garage was already downsized since it could have been taped before Elon Musk's tweet in April.

The Cybertruck featured in Jay Leno's Garage looked a little different from the one revealed during the unveiling. For example, Tesla enthusiast @cybrtrkguy pointed out that it had new rims and tires. He also speculated that it may have been a different Cybertruck than the one in the unveiling.
The Tesla will begin Cybertruck production in 2021, starting with the dual-motor and tri-motor variants. Currently, Elon Musk is picking a location for Tesla's Cybertruck Gigafactory--or Terafactory. Texas, Oklahoma, and North Carolina have made bold steps towards getting Tesla's attention and becoming the home state of Tesla's Cybertruck factory.
