Tesla executives will visit India this week to meet with government officials. The company plans to discuss the local supply chain for components for its vehicles.

A group of senior Tesla executives is scheduled to visit India this week, according to several media outlets. They plan to meet with federal government officials as part of a new effort to deepen Tesla's supply chain in the country. Executives plan to meet with government officials, including those from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office. The meeting will include a discussion of local sources of components for Tesla vehicles.

The visit could herald a positive change in the relationship between India and Tesla. In the past, the company had plans to enter the local market and even formed a team there and began testing cars. However, the country's government was unwilling to make concessions on tax policy. India also advised Tesla not to sell cars made in China in the country.

Senior executives and managers from Austin, Texas, Tesla's supply chain, manufacturing, and business development teams are expected to attend the meeting. Executives are expected to again ask for lower import taxes on their cars, likely suggesting ways to resolve the disagreement.
