The water supply of Tesla Giga Berlin and the population of the Grünheide district is not at risk, Brandenburg's environment minister said on Wednesday. The minister's statement should reassure the local population, which, due to the negative mood of the so-called “environmental” organizations, lives in tension.

According to the Brandenburg government, no one needs to worry about enough drinking water in the area of the new Tesla plant in Grünheide near Berlin. “The state government does not consider the drinking water supply of 170,000 people in the WSE catchment area and Tesla’s water supply to be at risk,” Environment Minister Axel Vogel said Wednesday at the state parliament in Potsdam in response to a question.

Environmental associations have identified only one goal against which they are fighting—Tesla and its Giga Berlin, the factory for the production of electric vehicles that reduce the negative impact of people on the environment in the course of their life. Their opposition to a manufacturer whose goal is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy is in itself absurd. At a time when they could do their best and help Tesla settle in Germany, the organizations, whose purpose of participation has long been questioned by the public and local politicians, exclusively oppose the company's entry.

As of now, they have filed a lawsuit against the German State Office for the Environment alleging procedural errors in Tesla's approval process, and the case will be heard on February 11. Meanwhile, none of these organizations are taking part in confronting the LEAG coal mine, which uses 171 times more water than Giga Berlin needs. For reference, LEAG has pumped out a total of 240 million cubic meters more than it has the right to since 2017, which leads to the drying up of rivers and lakes. Naturally, such actions of the group further indicate their bias and the perverse struggle exclusively against Tesla.
