Tesla Giga Shanghai to Produce 300,000th Vehicle in 2021 on September 29

Tesla Giga Shanghai is growing at a steady pace and has achieved incredible production capacity in less than two years of operation. The factory is reported to be producing the 300,000th vehicle in 2021 on September 29, with a media event scheduled for the occasion.

Giga Shanghai has become Tesla's fastest growing factory. In addition to the factory itself being built at lightning speed, its production has also ramped up at this blistering pace. This led to the fact that in the first nine months of 2021, Giga Shanghai will be able to produce more than 300,000 Model 3 and Model Y. The news was first reported by Tesla's supporter and enthusiast @ray4tesla/Twitter on September 24, although at the time it was just a rumor.

Now, Reuter's sources have confirmed that Tesla's Shanghai plant is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles in the first nine months of this year. The sources asked to remain anonymous as they were not allowed to communicate with the media on the matter. The company expects to achieve production targets despite the global semiconductor shortage.

In addition to this, it seems that on September 26, @ray4tesla received confirmation of his information. He posted a tweet stating that Tesla expects to produce the 300,000th car on September 29. Ray also said that on this occasion, Giga Shanghai will host an event to which the media are invited and published an agenda:

• 9:00 a.m.-9:20 a.m. - media witness 300,000th car rolls off the line
• 9:20 a.m.-9:50 a.m - management interview
• 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. - workshop tour

The 300,000th Tesla is expected to roll off the line on 9/29 at Giga SH. Here is event schedule:

Earlier, Yuan Guohua, an official in the area where Giga Shanghai is located, said the plant's annual production is expected to reach 450,000 vehicles in 2021. Since Tesla will reach production of its 300,000th unit in September, this means the factory could produce 150,000 more units in the next three months. If this happens, it will be a truly high achievement, as it will mean that in just two years, the production capacity of Giga Shanghai will have reached 450,000 units per year.
