Tesla Teases Two New Models: Compact and Van?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased two new electric vehicles. He stated that the company is already in the process of creating a new product and the technology of their production is much more advanced than the current ones.

During the Annual Shareholders Meeting on May 16, Elon Musk said the company is developing two new electric vehicles that have not yet been unveiled. Although he did not talk much about them, it is known that they are already in development.

“I just want to emphasize that we are actually building a new product,” said Musk. “We are actually designing a new product. We're not sitting on our hands here.”

Musk said these two new products are significantly different from what is on the market, as “both the design of the products and the manufacturing techniques are head and shoulders above anything else that is present in the industry.”

Tesla showed on screen an image already revealed during Investor Day in March. Among the already announced car models, there were two covered ones. In fact, we could only see the silhouettes and approximate size compared to other vehicles in the image.

One looked smaller and is likely to be an affordable compact EV that will be made at Giga Mexico. At the moment, the new model is not presented and will be shown to the public during a special event later. Most likely, it will only be a prototype car and not its production version.

The second car looks like a van. Musk has repeatedly mentioned the van, teasing the various features it could potentially have. There is a strong possibility this could be a model designed for a robotaxi. If the car has more seats inside, it will be able to carry more passengers at a time. This, in turn, will increase its value and appeal to consumers. According to Musk, the company will “probably make in excess of 5 million units per year of these two models combined.”
