Tesla Model 3 is Carvana's best-selling electric vehicle in the first half of 2023. The car holds the championship for the third year in a row, taking first place also in 2021 and 2022.

Carvana is releasing its top 10 best-selling electric vehicles in the first half of 2023, which shows exponential growth in used electric vehicle sales, reflecting consumer demand for more affordable options. According to Carvana's list, Tesla Model 3 is its best-selling electric vehicle in the first half of 2023. In addition, Tesla Model Y and Model S are also on the list, coming in fifth and sixth respectively:

• Tesla Model Y
• Tesla Model S
• Volkswagen e-Golf
• Chevrolet Bolt
• Ford Mustang MACH-E
• Chevrolet Spark

Over the past five years, Carvana's total electric vehicle sales have increased by 786% as of the end of 2022. This is evidence that more buyers are turning to the used channel for more affordable access to electric vehicle ownership. Carvana sold its first EV in 2013 and has seen a 150% increase in used EVs in the last five years. The company currently sells over 46 makes and models of electric vehicles, becoming the largest online used car seller in the US.

New EV buyers are open to purchases that are mostly digital, according to a June 2023 study by Cox Automotive. 87% of consumers are willing to buy entirely online. Additionally, while 51% of vehicle buyers currently indicate they are considering buying an electric vehicle, affordability is still a major hurdle for many buyers.

“Carvana offers more than 46 EV makes and models, with more than 40% of our EV options under $25,000,” said Kevin Fitzgerald, Carvana Director of Inventory Purchasing. “Carvana’s digital leadership and customer focus is poised to support more of America’s growing interest in EVs and all vehicles through our proven auto ecommerce platform for buying, selling and trade ins.”

Carvana sold its first Tesla in 2014 and Tesla unit sales increased more than 250% from the two years prior. Tesla Model 3 is the most popular used electric vehicle sold by Carvana from January 1 to June 30, 2023. In addition, the car was the most popular used electric car sold by Carvana in 2022 and 2021.
