Tesla Model 3 Perfectly Protects Driver After Semi-Tractor Trailer Slams into it at 60+ MPH

Tesla Model 3 has once again proved that it is one of the safest vehicles in the world. The car took the impact of a semi-tractor trailer that crashed into it at over 60 mph, providing full protection to the driver, who did not suffer any serious injuries.

Former Tesla employee now involved in electric vehicle insurance, Brent Seavey, shared his client's story on LinkedIn. He said that his client stopped at the interstate in Indiana to make a call. After a while, a semi-tractor trailer crashed into his Model 3, which was racing at a speed of over 60 mph. As it turned out later, the driver fell asleep while driving, which could have cost him and other road users their lives.

The brunt of the impact was to the rear of the Model 3, which significantly reduced the risk to cabin occupants. However, it was a very hard blow from a heavy vehicle that was driving at high speed. Despite this, the Tesla perfectly protected its driver, who was not injured and was able to leave on his own power. Meanwhile, unfortunately, the truck driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital.

Sadly, accidents are common on the roads all over the world. According to the National Highway Traffic Administration, in the USA, car accidents happen every 60 seconds. That equates to about 5.25 million accidents across the nation on a yearly basis. Statistics by the Association for Safe International Road Travel show that 37,000 people die annually due to vehicular accidents with an additional 2.35 million either injured or disabled.

This crash validates the Model 3's 5-star safety rating. Tesla's affordable sedan received 5-star safety ratings from multiple organizations, like the NHTSA, IIHS, and Euro NCAP. This allowed the vehicle to impress safety agencies across several parts of the world, including North America, Europe, and Australia. The constant painstaking work of Tesla has amazing results because the safety of car passengers and other road users is a top priority.
