Unfortunately, cars are an unsafe form of transport, and road accidents around the world occur every day. This is why it is so important for automakers to design their vehicles so that they can protect their passengers when needed. Tesla designs its cars primarily with safety in mind, which is confirmed by its highest ratings in crash tests, which have also been repeatedly proven in the real world.
Marco/Twitter shared the story of how his Tesla Model 3 saved his family with a pregnant woman and a 4-year-old child from the tragic consequences of a head-on collision with a Jeep Wrangler driven by a drunk driver. Despite the violent collision, the Tesla passengers received only a few bruises and shock.
Since there was a storm with heavy rain that day, Marco drove very carefully, like most drivers. At some point, the headlights of an oncoming car appeared on the winding road, and as it turned out, it was driving not in its lane, but rushing towards the Tesla. As you can see in the video from Tesla Dashcam below, due to heavy rain and darkness, it was extremely difficult to quickly understand that the Jeep was driving in the wrong lane. The situation was aggravated by the fact that the road was winding, and an oncoming car appeared literally in front of the Tesla in just a matter of seconds.
Despite the tense situation, Marco was able to quickly turn the steering wheel of the car to the right, and avoid a violent head-on collision. Despite the actions taken, the Jeep collided with the left front part of the Model 3. It is worth noting that the advanced driver-assistance systems also helped to avoid a severe collision, starting to brake as soon as they recognized an obstacle in its lane. If the speed of the car remained the same, the consequences of the accident could be much more serious.
Marco said that he and his family were able to get out of the damaged car on their own without receiving any serious injuries after the crash. After the arrival of the police, it turned out that the Jeep Wrangler driver was heavily drunk and mistook the lane.

Obviously, the advanced driver-assistance systems as well as the design of the Tesla Model 3 played a critical role in preventing a more serious accident and saved the lives of the entire family. Marco expressed his gratitude to Tesla for this: "So I can't be thankful enough to @Tesla for building awesome cars with build quality and safety features that really save lives."
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to Marco's tweet and once again reminded everyone that while sometimes people think that performance is fundamental to car design, in fact, safety is always the primary design requirement for a Tesla.
