Tesla Model 3 has received the title of the most energy-efficient EV in the Green NCAP tests. The vehicle has shown impressive test results under various weather conditions.
In the press release published on November 7, Green NCAP noted the results of three very competitive electric vehicles: Tesla Model 3, NIO eT7, and Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric. According to a press release, all vehicles received an impressive five-star rating under the Green NCAP sustainable rating scheme, earning near-maximum scores due to the high energy efficiency of their electric powertrains, which far exceed conventional vehicle ratings.
Green NCAP particularly singled out Tesla Model 3 and awarded it for impressive results with a Weighted Overall Index of 9.8 out of 10 and a well-deserved 5 Green stars. The specialists wrote that Tesla Model 3, with a 60 kWh battery, single motor, rear-wheel drive and 208 kW, has a wide and sporty appeal. The vehicle demonstrated high energy efficiency not only in the Cold and Warm WLTC+ laboratory tests, but also in demanding road tests with a very impressive result of 21.1 kWh/100 km. Green NCAP noted that the small frontal area and aerodynamic shape work to the vehicle's advantage.
It is noted that in the WLTC + test cycle at a winter temperature of -7 ° C, due to the high requirements for interior heating, comfort, and battery protection management, consumption increased by 72%, which reduced the range. Despite this and the car's relatively high mass, its result proves that it has been designed with special attention made to efficiency and driving range. Consumption during tests in cold conditions for the NIO eT7 was 72% and for the Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric, 78%.
