Tesla Model S Plaid could be delivered to the first customers in China soon, according to an email received by a reservation holder. Elon Musk previously reported that the first deliveries to the country could take place in March 2022.

A Tesla Model S Plaid customer in China has received an order update, according to information from CnEVPost. Weibo user @YFY含笑 received an email from Tesla saying that his Model S Plaid booking order, which he made about one year ago, was updated. The message was the first hint that the delivery is likely to take place soon. "To move forward with the delivery process, please visit your Tesla account," the email message shared by the customer read.

@YFY含笑 reserved the Midnight Silver Metallic Model S Plaid with 19" Tempest wheels. They also opted for the Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) driving assistance feature, priced at RMB 32,000 ($5,050). The order was made on March 7, 2021, and the customer paid RMB 20,000 to reserve the car at a price of RMB 999,990 (about $158,060). The total cost of the car with all the settings was RMB 1,061,990 (about $167,861).

If delivery takes place in the next few weeks, it will be in line with an earlier tweet from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Asked in November 2021 about when Model S Plaid will be delivered to customers in China, Musk replied that probably in March. In the US, deliveries of the coveted Plaid S began in the summer of 2021.

However, at the moment, deliveries of Model S Plaid to China cannot be started as the vehicle has not yet been approved for sale in the country. Perhaps the car will be approved in the near future, after which deliveries to the first customers will begin.
