Since Tesla has canceled the production of Model S Plaid+, the company will provide an opportunity to purchase Model S Plaid at the initial price for those who have placed an order for Plaid+.
Tesla stopped accepting orders for Model S Plaid+ in May. The move roughly coincided with the time Tesla was testing Model S Plaid at the Autoclub Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield. Tesla Model S Plaid had set a new quarter-mile speed world record for any production vehicle at a blistering 9.247 seconds with a trap speed of 152.16mph. In early June, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company was canceling production of Model S Plaid+ because Model S Plaid is so good that there is no need to produce an even better version. In addition, having achieved better performance than the manufacturer even anticipated, Tesla also raised the price of the Plaid by $10,000.
Nevertheless, such news greatly upset those who ordered Model S Plaid+. In addition to the fact that they could no longer get the cars they ordered, they would now have to pay $10,000 more for Model S Plaid than if they ordered the car at the beginning.
Such emotions were quite justified, so the CEO & Co-founder of Tesmanian Vincent Yu approached Musk with a request to consider honoring those who ordered the Plaid+ with the opportunity to purchase Model S Plaid at the initial price, which was before the increase by $10,000. Just a few hours later, Tesla's leader responded that the company would do it because it was fair.
Fair enough— Elon Musk, the 2nd (@elonmusk) June 17, 2021
If we look at large companies around the world, we are unlikely to find something like Tesla. The manufacturer is in constant dialogue with its customers, largely thanks to its CEO Elon Musk. He constantly responds to comments, requests, and feedback that help make Tesla products better. These unique relationships are a very strong competitive advantage for the company and in and of themselves can win the hearts of many.
