Tesla Model Y vehicles have been added to EV subscription service Autonomy and will complement Model 3s in the fleet. Demand for the Texas-based manufacturer's electric vehicles has been five times greater than expected, providing the best impetus for the new expansion.
In January 2022, Autonomy launched its commercial operation with a pioneering electric vehicle subscription mobile app and the Tesla Model 3 program. The company offers the base Tesla Model 3 and Long Range, and will now complement its fleet with Model Y Long Range, as announced in a press release. Autonomy offers consumers a flexible and affordable way to access an electric vehicle and calls itself the nation's largest electric vehicle subscription company.
“Autonomy has met the moment for consumers by making subscribing to a cool EV cheaper, faster, and easier than ever before,” said Scott Painter, CEO and founder of Autonomy. “During the first quarter of the year, Tesla made up 75% of EVs sold, with Model Y and Model 3 making up 68% of the market by themselves, showcasing the demand and popularity for the vehicles. We’re seeing five times the demand we anticipated for our Tesla Model 3 program, and with gas prices soaring, we knew it was time to expand our lineup to include a popular crossover, such as the Model Y.”
All subscriptions with Autonomy include basic scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance (limitations apply). Consumers can flexibly adjust their monthly payment from $690/month (with a $7,900 entry fee) to $1,350/month (with a $1,000 entry fee and no vehicle upgrades). A $500 deposit is required upon subscription activation. In order to book a car, you need to pay a fully refundable fee of $100 (applied to security deposit at activation). The minimum subscription period is three months. This includes driving up to 1,000 miles per month.
“The subscription value proposition is unbeatable,” said Georg Bauer, president and co-founder of Autonomy. “When you can beat the legacy options on price, experience, and speed, you are going to win with consumers. We look forward to partnering with OEMs to expand into new brands and models, and giving consumers more choices for flexible and sustainable mobility.”
