Tesla continues to work towards providing access for non-Tesla electric vehicles to its Superchargers in the US. The company has added the “Charge Your Non-Tesla” option to the Tesla App in a new update.
Tesla is in active preparation to open its Supercharger network to other electric vehicles in the US. The company is laying the groundwork for introducing non-Tesla electric vehicle access to Superchargers in the country. According to @FriendOfElon/Twitter (via @klwtts/Twitter), the updated Tesla App includes a new and very interesting feature -- “Charge Your Non-Tesla.” It is located at the bottom of the “Product Switcher” list, which only appears when you have access to several cars in your account, explained @klwtts.

Checking this option showed that, in fact, it does not yet work, as it does not offer any Supercharger for charging. In one case, an owner was offered access to the wall connector only. This shows that Tesla is still working on opening access and is not yet ready to provide it to non-Tesla EVs. However, this is one of the first, clear signs that the company is already very close to launching the option in the US.
In early July, it was revealed that Tesla was expanding its investment in Buffalo-based Giga New York to support the production and deployment of new Superchargers. In addition, the move also aims to begin manufacturing new Supercharger hardware that will allow non-Tesla EV drivers in North America to use Tesla Superchargers.
Tesla continues to ramp up its efforts to support EV owners from all manufacturers. The company's pilot program in Europe seems to be having success, and Tesla-branded charging stations have already been opened in 13 countries for non-Tesla vehicles. This marks continued support for the development of the electric vehicle market and people who choose environmentally friendly vehicles. The company's efforts directly support its mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
