Tesla Model Y became the best-selling car in the Netherlands in March. Strong sales secured Tesla the title of the best-selling brand in the country last month. The company occupied an 8.4% share of the Dutch automotive market.

Car sales in the Netherlands rose significantly in March. 37,452 vehicles were registered, reflecting an increase of over 51%. This sharp increase was at least in part due to dealers finally delivering cars ordered a few months earlier. Due to a serious shortage of chips, dealers could not supply enough cars, but now production has resumed.

Despite significantly increased deliveries of all brands, Tesla remains on top. Model Y, with 2,362 units sold, was the top-selling car in March. With the increased production of the model at Giga Berlin, fast delivery to European countries is no longer a problem. In second place, by a huge lag, is Volvo with 1,298 XC40s sold. Peugeot sold 1,035 208s and finished third. In fourth place is Lynk & Co 01 with 1,003 sales. Closing out the top 5 is Opel Corsa with 799 units sold.

In addition to 2,362 Model Y, Tesla also sold 753 Model 3, 28 Model S, and 17 Model X. Combined sales of only four car models, totaling 3,160 units, made Tesla the best-selling car brand in the country. The closest competitor is Volkswagen with 2,972 units sold. In third place is Kia, selling 2,672.
