Tesla's Solar Roof ramp has been proven by its 60 new job listings for roofers in at least 15 different states in the U.S. During the Q1 2020 Earnings Call, Elon Musk mentioned the need to improve the installation process for Solar Roofs. Hiring more roofers could help Solar Roof installations move faster and more efficiently.
"So, we see a lot of interest, and so it's just a question of refining the installation process, getting lots of crews trained to do the installation. But over-time, I would expect a significant percentage of new roofs to be something to use solar glass in one form or another," Elon Musk said in the first-quarter Earnings Call.
Reddit user u/space_s3x found the 60 positions for roofers on Tesla's Careers page. According to the redditor, most of the new positions were posted within the last six weeks. Based on the Careers page, Tesla is looking for lead solar roofers, solar roofers, solar roof instructors, and a project manager for its Solar Roof department. Tesla also has a Solar Roof internship open in the Fall for Energy Engineering.

During the latest TSLA Earnings Call, Elon Musk explained the advantages of installing Solar Roof over a regular roof or a roof + solar panel system. "It's really going to be your choice, do you want to roof that is alive with power or dead without. And I think people will want a live roof that generates power, and it looks good and lasts [a] long time, and it's the future we want," he said.
Tesla discussed the environmental advantages of Solar Roof in its 2019 Impact Report as well. The company argued that Solar Roof and its solar panels with Powerwall could dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of homeowners. It claimed that sunlight generated enough energy to meet domestic electricity needs. Tesla's claims about its solar and energy storage devices have been tested and proven over and over again in Australia with the Hornsdale Power Reserve and Virtual Power Plants supported by the company's Powerpacks in the country.
