SpaceX Starlink offers 78% discount on internet hardware for rural regions in Australia

SpaceX Starlink offers 78% discount on internet hardware for rural regions in Australia. Some Starlink customers in the country received an email with the “limited time” offer this week and shared it via social media. With the discount, customers will pay $199 AUD [Australian Dollars] instead of the original cost of $924 AUD for the Starlink hardware. The Starlink kit includes a phased-array antenna, power/mounting equipment, and Wi-Fi router to wirelessly access the satellite internet network. It is a huge discount for the user terminal. The monthly internet subscription price is $139 AUD.

Likely, this is SpaceX’s strategy to gain more customers in rural and remote Australian regions where the Starlink satellites provide extended coverage. According to the company’s Starlink Coverage Map on its Starlink.com/map website, there is Starlink service available across all of Australia, including coastal areas and rural communities. Interested customers can simply type their address on the map to see whether the service is available in a specific location.

As of today, SpaceX operates approximately 3,908 Starlink satellites in Low Earth Orbit out of 12,000 it plans to deploy in the coming years to build a robust network. The Starlink constellation already provides high-speed internet service to over one million users living across all seven continents. Starlink also beams internet to moving vehicles, including RV’s, trains, ships, and airplanes.
