The President of Indonesia Joko Widodo visited the United States this week. He met with U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House for a historic U.S. Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) Special Summit. During the meeting they discussed their ongoing cooperation and new partnerships to improve the world. The U.S. is investing "$40 million in order to mobilize $2 billion in blended financing for clean energy infrastructure in Southeast Asia," said a White House press release. The U.S. will also help Southeast Asia to expand conservation and reverse deforestation.

Indonesian President Widodo also had the opportunity to also travel to Brownsville, Boca Chica Beach, Texas, to meet SpaceX founder Elon Musk at the Starbase facility where the aerospace company is developing Starship. According to representatives of the Indonesia government, Widodo and Musk discussed potential investments in the nickel industry for Tesla, which produces batteries for electric vehicles and solar electricity generators.

He shared photos with Musk at the Starbase rocket factory, pictured below. The Chief Engineer gave Widodo an exclusive tour of the Starship development facility. "After a discussion in his office, Elon Musk invited me to visit the location of the SpaceX rocket production facility in Boca Chica, United States," said Widodo, "For an hour we took a close look at the SpaceX rocket factory. I have also invited Elon Musk to come to Indonesia," he captioned a photograph via Twitter.
