Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling car in Norway in 2021. Model Y took fourth place, despite its sales beginning only in the last four months of the year. Tesla became the top-selling brand in the country with an 11.6% market share.

Norwegians continue to strive for zero-carbon, increasingly choosing electric vehicles as their vehicle. Their obvious choice is the Tesla brand, which offers the highest quality EVs available today. The year 2021 was significant, as the Norwegians made it clear Model 3 is the most compelling car to buy.

Last year, a staggering 64.5% of all cars on Norwegian roads were EVs. At the head of this army were Tesla cars, which became the best-selling brand in the country, taking an 11.6% market share. Plug-in hybrid cars accounted for 27.2%, while gasoline and diesel cars accounted for 4.2% and 4%, respectively.

Tesla Model 3 took the trophy and became the best-selling car in Norway for all of 2021 with 12,058 units, taking 6.8% of the market share. With a lag of 3,130 units, the Toyota RAV4 is in second place with 8,928 registered units. In third place, with a slight lag is Volkswagen ID.4 with 8,645 units sold. Fourth place also belongs to Tesla with its compact crossover, sales of which began only at the end of August. Model Y is only slightly behind the second and third places and registered 8,267 units—a likely contender for first place come 2022. Closing out the Top 5 is Volvo XC40 with 6,415 registered cars.
