Tesla announces two factories east of Sparks in Nevada, with over $3.6B of investment. The factories producing Semi trucks and 4680 batteries will create more than 3,000 jobs, according to the company.

On Tuesday, Tesla announced plans to build two new $3.6 billion manufacturing facilities east of Sparks, Nevada. One of them will produce all-electric Semi trucks and the other 4680 batteries. This was great news that the public was ready for, as on Monday, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said this to Nevada's Assembly and Senate. The facilities will be built in the industrial center of Tahoe Reno. According to the plan, the factories will create more than 3,000 jobs.

Mitch Landrieu, President Joe Biden's Infrastructure Coordinator:

“The manufacturing boom of President Biden's first two years continues today with Tesla's announcement that they will invest more than $3.6 billion in battery and electric semi-truck manufacturing in Sparks, Nevada. This announcement is the latest in more than $300 billion in private sector investment in clean energy and semiconductor manufacturing announced since the President took office. It will create more than 3,000 good-paying jobs in Nevada helping America lead in clean energy manufacturing, strengthening our energy security, and ultimately lowering costs for families.”

Tesla said in a statement:

“We will be investing over $3.6 billion more to continue growing Gigafactory Nevada, adding 3,000 new team members and two new factories: a 100 GWh 4680 cell factory (with capacity to produce enough batteries for 2 million light duty vehicles annually), as well as our first high-volume Semi factory. Semi is our fully electric combination truck, with 500 miles of range and energy consumption of less than 2 KWh per mile.”
