In June, Tesla delivered 74,212 vehicles in China, capturing 11.16% of the NEV market share and 16.53% of the BEV market share. Giga Shanghai also exported 19,468 vehicles last month.

Tesla sold 93,680 electric vehicles out of Giga Shanghai in June, according to figures released on Monday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Of these, the company delivered 74,212 vehicles to the domestic market. This is 4.78% less than 77,938 in the same month a year ago, but 74.58% more than 42,508 units in May. In addition, 19,468 vehicles were exported.

According to the CPCA, 30,637 Model 3 and 63,043 Model Y were sold in June, including exports, according to CnEVPost. Specific model sales numbers for cars only sold domestically in China have not yet been published.

Sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) in China totaled 665,000 units in June, according to the CPCA. This is 25.1% more year on year and 14.66% more than in May. Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in June were 449,000 units, up 6.1% year on year and up 15.72% from May.

This means that Tesla's share of the Chinese NEV market was 11.16% in June compared to 7.33% in May. However, it is down from 14.65% a year earlier. In the Chinese BEV market, Tesla's share was 16.53% in June. That is up from 10.96% in May, but down from 18.38% a year earlier.

Tesla is making cars for export in the first half of the quarter and is focusing more on domestic deliveries in the second half. In June, Giga Shanghai exported 44.67% fewer cars than in May. However, this is about 20 times more than in the same period last year, when it was 968 units. Last year, the factory just started to resume operations after being shut down for more than one month due to COVID-19 in China.

Tesla sold 476,539 Chinese-made vehicles in the first half of the year. This is 61.67% more than a year earlier. Giga Shanghai exported 182,434 vehicles in the first half of the year, up 87.72% from the same period a year earlier. Tesla delivered 294,105 vehicles to Chinese customers in the first half of the year. This is 48.86% more than last year.
