Tesla continues its global expansion and now intends to locate in Thailand. The new filing shows that the manufacturer has registered to start selling vehicles, solar, and energy storage systems in the country.

Tesla is committed to expansion, which is why the company is trying to forge good relationships with various countries and provide an enjoyable car ownership experience for customers all over the world. In 2020 Tesla requested more information from the Thai government on the country's investment promotion policy and industry overview. Officials were even reported to be preparing a conference call to discuss the matter in detail.

As Thailand's electric vehicle policy continues to improve and the country is happy to welcome companies that want to sell such vehicles, Tesla has taken an important step to enter the local market. @ekapobkul/Twitter, citing documents dated April 25, reported that the manufacturer has registered to start selling vehicles, solar, and energy storage systems in Thailand. The application was signed by Tesla’s Global Senior Director of Trade Market Access, David Jon Feinstein. The company has indicated that it is registering for sales of new passenger motor vehicles, pick-up trucks, vans, and similar light motor vehicles.

Tesla cars are very attractive, primarily due to the fact that they run on electricity. In 2020, the Thai police leased seven Tesla Model 3s for use on duty. “The price is cheaper than the Benz S-Class. It is important that we do not need to worry about buying fuel, because we do not use fuel. This can significantly reduce budget expenses," said Police Major General Torsak Sukvimol, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigative Police.

Despite the fact that Tesla was not officially present in Thailand, its Model 3 was one of the best-selling EVs on the market. It is logical to expect that after the manufacturer opens its stores, charging stations and service centers, sales of its cars will quickly rise.
