Tesla Model 3 and Model Y continue to capture an impressive share of the German car market. In February 2022, models from the American manufacturer topped EV sales in Germany.

February 2022 EV registration data released by KBA shows Tesla leading the way with its models in Germany, well ahead of the competition. Last month, Tesla Model 3 topped the list of new electric vehicle registrations in the country and also became the best-selling vehicle in the midsize segment. In the 28 days of February, Tesla registered 3,690 Model 3s, showing a significant advantage over competitors, including those produced locally.

Model 3’s first place position is not Tesla's only achievement. Another model of the manufacturer—Model Y—became the second best-selling car in the German EV market in February. Tesla registered 2,254 Model Ys, greatly outperforming its nearest competitor, the Fiat 500, with 1,392 registrations. In fourth place in sales was the Hyundai Kona Electric with 1,312 registrations. Closing out the top 5 last month was Renault Zoe with 1,101 cars sold.

Thus, according to the results for the first two months of 2022, Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling EV in Germany so far this year with 3,967 sales. Thanks to stable sales in January and February, the Fiat 500 came in second with 2,653 units. Third place belongs to Tesla Model Y with 2,396 sales. It is worth bearing in mind that as soon as the Giga Berlin starts mass production, for which the corresponding approval has already been issued, Model Y sales figures will increase significantly, both in Germany and throughout Europe. Fourth place went to Hyundai Kona Electric with 2,317 sales, while Volkswagen ID.3 came in fifth with 1,965 units.
